Fact Checking
It's important to do your own research from respected sources in order to know the facts. Here are a few places to get started.
First Draft provides information about misinformation itself and what people are doing about it. It's a good place to go if you're interested in learning about this.

Politifact is a nonparitsan resource for fact checking political figures (elected, running, previous). This is an easy to understand website that shows how truthful statements are from politicians. They also have a transparent "about us" section that shows you who they are and how they remain nonpartisan.

Factcheck.org is another nonpartisan resource that is similar to politifact.

Open Secrets is a helpful resource to see where money in politics is coming from and what it's affecting.

Otherwise, it's a good idea to use nationally recognized organizations, such as government or university webpages. If you have any questions about finding a reliable resource, ask a librarian!
