The Bloodsworn Saga by John Gwynne

John Gwynne is relatively new to being a fantasy superstar, and has become known for writing expansive epic fantasies with a Norse/Viking theme. The Bloodsworn Saga contains dying gods, power-hungry jarls, massive monsters, and a large cast of memorable characters trying to survive this harsh world. Also the series has awesome covers on each book. While the first book of the series (The Shadow of the Gods) came out a year ago, the newest book (The Hunger of the Gods) was just recently released. Under the Whispering Door by T.J. Klune

This is definitely a different kind of fantasy story. Instead of going on epic adventures and slaying dragons, this story focuses on the owner of a teashop processing his recent death, and learning how to appreciate life when the grim reaper gives him seven days to come to terms with his demise. If you like wholesome stories about coping with loss and learning what it means to live a good life, then this is for you. See it in our catalog here.

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness

This is a popular urban fantasy series with a prominent romance plot, and it was also recently made into a TV show, so you can check out the series when you are done! If you think that vampires and witches are cool, and if romance is a must-have in your fantasy books, then this is for you. See it in our catalog here.

The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Robert Jordan is in many ways considered to be the American J.R.R. Tolkien. When he wrote the first Wheel of Time book (The Eye of the World) in 1990, he fundamentally changed how fantasy was written. No longer did fantasy have to be limited in scope and derivative of Lord of the Rings. Jordan proved one story could span continents, have hundreds of characters, and have a unique and well-explained magic system. These books are awesome. Check all 14 of these books out if you love fantasy and have time to burn. See the first book in our catalog here.
